I would have it appraised by a signature expert. A GB member's autograph? Hoo baby! That's gonna be worth some serious cash. Right up there with Willie Mays' rookie card.

Autumn...

However, with Saturn headed for Sagittarius this winter and the inherent risk of cults that this gives, plus that hounders (and judges) can and will abuse it by enforcing your former baptism as a legally binding contract, this fall is not entirely without its hazards. It also means, with Neptune headed for 9 Pisces next spring, your silver-gathering season is nearing its end. They are running down prices to scare everyone out of silver, and driving up stock prices to sucker people to buy stocks. When they pull the plug, and Neptune in 9 Pisces is a good point for that to happen, they will give no warning. Your stocks will not be worth the paper they are printed on (and neither will your toilet paper dollars you thought were going to hold their value), and silver will not be available except through extremely hard labor.
Um, what?

Will JW.ORG actually harm the WT Society Long Term ?
by flipper inmy son and i were discussing this yesterday over coffee.
since the wt society in previous years virtually demonized going on the internet at all for jw's - now wt leaders are doing a complete turn around or about face probably so as to " compete " or keep up with all the anti-jw websites that are out there to give the wt society point of view.. however- it very well may backfire on them as once people start doing google searches looking for jw.org it will bring up all the other websites dealing with any jw issues and in the privacy of their own homes out of curiosity i'm sure lots of jw's are going to want to check out some of these sites to see what all the " apostate " hoopla is all about.
i wonder how many jw's will do this and will it have an effect in opening more minds to other views ?

That's exactly what it is- damage control. Even they understand that we live in the information and technology age, and that they can't shelter their members from it forever. The majority of JWs, at least in developed countries, already have access to the internet, despite the WT's warnings about it. All they can hope to do is counter the information that's out there with their own propaganda.

For a one day event in their own facility?
My thought exactly. Seems pretty inflated, even for them. I've always wondered about the expenses incurred at an assembly, especially since they stopped serving food, and the labor is free.
Ok, so there's bathroom supplies, and water and electricity. Those couldn't possibly add up to that much could they? Unless I'm missing something.

Why do you come here?
by love2Bworldly ini come here to learn, but i also come here because it feels like a private club and i'm privy to be a member of the "in" crowd.
it's a great place to socialize.
does anyone else feel that they are a member of a special "club" when they come here, that only some people in this world will understand the jw world?.

There are also some that come here to proselytise and preach their version of "truth".
The worst offenders are the ones who have never had any connection to JWs at all, but simply come here looking for vulnerable, lost souls to save exploit.
Personally, I come here mostly for the people. As others have pointed out, there are people who have had the same life experiences as me. I can also find a discussion about pretty much any topic, not just those related to JWs. But even though I haven't been to a meeting in almost 9 years, there are still times I feel like venting about the WT. It's good to do it with people who actually get it.

And they call it "preaching."
It's a way to pad field service hours, while exerting little, if any, energy. I give them credit for ingenuity. The only thing better would be to stick a tray full of pamphlets on the front doorstep of their homes for passersby to take at their leisure. They could count time 24/7 without leaving their homes.

Observations from a day at the zoo
by Simon inso we went to calgary zoo today and i'm torn between zoo's being great for conservation vs using animals to make money.
i think on the whole they are a good thing but it's sad to see some of the animals caged up - somehow i always end up staring into the eyes of a gorilla and it makes me sad.. but that isn't what struck me ... it's these things:.

Zoos don't make that much money from just entry fees.
The one we have in Madison is free. It's supported by public donation. It's also shrunk gradually over the years. I remember it being considerably bigger when I was a kid.

Why would you think any of the elders look at porn? That sounds like projection on your part.
You mean, besides the fact that I personally knew of elders who were removed for doing so? It was mostly a joke, anyway. But thank you anyway for your dimestore psychology. There are very few posters here from whom it would mean less to me.

Saturday morning field service is a joke
by hoser ini havent been going door to door saturday mornings for since i can't remember when.
i have been putting in regular reports to the congregation but the last time i actually went on a door was probably six months ago or so and it has been at least 2 years since i did a saturday morning.
9:30 we showed up to the group arrangement, we waited outside because we were not sure that it was the right place.

It's wonderful to see Jehovah's chariot blazing full speed ahead. The end is so very near.
